How does mail distribution work?

La Poste was forced to reduce its visits and services due to the coronavirus epidemic. Since then, mail and package delivery has been limited to three consecutive days for postal workers. However, the CEO of the group recently announced that the number of delivery days will increase to four starting April 6. “More than 3,000 people” will be called as reinforcements, says Philippe Wahl. The postal group will rely on volunteers, temporary agents, fixed-term contracts, and employees from the Mediapost subsidiary (advertising distribution). Under pressure, the CEO of La Poste assured that he wanted to restore a presence tested by the Covid-19 crisis in rural areas and sensitive neighborhoods: 400 offices run by a postal worker will be reopened, with 600 more after the week of April 13 (Easter).

Increase in the number of Municipal postal agencies

La Poste is working with elected officials, the Association of Mayors of France, and the presidents of intercommunalities to increase the number of municipal postal agencies open (1,000 out of 6,500 currently). Some are calling for the refusal of shipments deemed non-essential, but Philippe Wahl indicated that he did not want to “police the package” and would rely on the responsibility of customers.
